CONRAD HISTORY ROOM

According to the recorded minutes of the Henry C. Conrad Alumni Association, the concept of a history / museum room was conceived on October 19, 2009. Tim and Sue Laushey volunteered their time to put together a committee to pursue this endeavor. After several meetings with Conrad Schools of Science administration, they selected an area under the balcony section of the library. The room was used as a storage area for unused computer equipment and other sundry items. Principal Mark Pruitt arranged to have the equipment relocated and to have minor repairs made to the room. By April of the following year, the committee was able to gain access and begin work.

The committee consisted of the Laushey's, Tom and Jean Skelly, Lynn Farley Makowski, Duane Denney, and Faith Simpers.  Lynn, during this time, observed that the closing of a store was selling their showcases and reported this to the Alumni Committee. The decision to purchases the show cases was approved. The Alumni Committee also recognized the need to have the room completed by Homecoming Day. Cleaning and painting began in early October and the collection of Conrad memorabilia was sorted and arranged for display.

A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on Homecoming Day 2010 with Mr. Jesse Malin having the honor of cutting the ribbon. Mr. Malin is a member of the Conrad Class of 1947 and past faculty member teaching Biology and coaching the Redskins Football Team.

The room now stands as a tribute to the Conradians that came before and to those who will come in the future.
